Back to School Tales

SO....hi. Sorry about last week. To be quite honest, I was beside myself with worry about school. That's right: S C H O O L. It was this big scary thing full of possibilities of failure and humiliation and getting lost (if you know me, you know I can get lost in a four wall room by myself, much less with hundreds of other 13-year-olds). BUT! And, that's one big but. It also had this opportunity to be this most amazing thing, in which I could reach the entire school for Christ and change the world and go down in history as that awesome girl from a semi-small town in North Carolina. Both were really big exaggerations.

It has been a good GREAT first week of school. I've made lots of new friends, learned how to work a lock, actually REMEMBERED my lock combination (!!!), memorized my schedule, and not once gotten lost. So it's been wonderful. But, the entire reason I went to school was not to make friends or have a locker. It was to reach people for God. And I haven't done that yet. But, I hope and pray to.

This week has been productive and exhausting. I have

  • remembered my lock combination.
  • memorized my schedule.
  • taken a math test.
  • made friends.
  • been flirted with by a sixth grader.
  • thought my Car Pool Buddy was dead.
  •  been called to the office.
  • been looked at funny when I almost had a heart attack because I was called to the office.
  • sighed a sigh with stronger wind speed than Isaac when it was only to pick something up.
  • been fist bumped by some dude I don't know.
So, I've been busy. What have you guys been up to?

I don't have any plans for Labor Day weekend, except dog sitting for Car Pool Buddy. What are y'all doing?

So, that's my blog post. Love you all. :-D

Blizzard Blog

Hello, wonderful world of the web! Any suggestions for interesting posts in the next month? I have been very boring as of late…

I absolutely love Taylor Swift’s new song! I’m listening to it on repeat as I write this! If you haven’t heard it yet and are a T-Swift fan, go forth and listen!

I’ve been writing a bit this week. A strange story from the villain’s point of view. I smell some-small-high-school-in-Oregon’s-newspaper best seller on my hands! I like writing, but I’ve yet to finish a book. I’d really like to! Maybe I can write a page or two every Monday, and post on here each Friday. Sound good to you?

So how many of you are mourning the loss of summer? I’ll miss the sunscreen, the beach, the pools, the swimsuits, the sunglasses, the tank tops, the flip-flops, the ponytail every day. But, it will end whether we want it to or not, sadly.

But, the end of summer signifies something so much better coming ever closer…SNOW!!! I love snow with a passion, though we hardly get any in the I-can’t-make-up-my-mind-what-temperature-I-want-to-be state of North Carolina. Last year we never really got winter, it just stayed warm. If it doesn’t cool down this year, I swear I’m going to go outside and do a snow dance (Not unlike this fantabulous author)!

Well, I’ll see y’all next week! Same time, same place? ;)

The Name of this Post is Secret

Well, I didn't plan any blog for this week, so I thought I would just give you guys a few things I thought were funny, so here we go.

This is one of the funniest videos I've ever seen. She has lots of other prank call videos that are just as hilarious!

This is what happens when you give a guy comedian make up...

I love me some Glozell. This is hilarious.

Hilly Potter! I go around singing this all the time!

And there you have it, 4 videos to laugh at. Hope you enjoy, and I promise to have a proper post up this time next week. (P.S. got the name for this post from the book The Name of This Book is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosch! Great series!)

Pearly White Problems

I remember a time when I didn't have braces and life was a lot simpler. And there was a lot less pain around the mouth reigon.

I think I may have mentioned before that I had rubber bands pulling two teeth together where I'd gotten one pulled. Well, those rubber bands were pretty easy to deal with. But, the gap soon closed up and when I went into the orthodontist's office yesterday, he said I was free from those rubber bands. But, before I could start my victory dance, he dropped a bomb; he repositioned the rubber bands so that it would help starighten my teeth. By hooking them from the bottom to top.

If you know me (and even if you don't, you've probably noticed this) you know I like to talk. Having some heavy duty rubber bands hooking your jaws together makes that pretty hard. I spent all of yesterday trying not to make everything I said sound like 'mirfjreihekfgjirefomdc'. It's a harder task than it sounds.

In other news, the older boys started school last week and Caleb started this Monday, leaving Aaron and I as the only ones left home. For some odd reason our schools are on different schedules. It's a little crazy, and I miss them a lot! It's so quiet! Quiet is scary in this house!!!

I've been catching up on my reading with them gone, and have decided to read the Harry Potter series for the third (I think) time. Have you ever noticed when you read a book at different stages of life you see things so much differently? I know my life is barely just started, but I interpret things so much differently than I did when I read the series the first time.

And the quote of the day:
"We are only as strong as we are united as weak as we are divided." - J.K. Rowling (Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire)

Until next time :)

Erm...hi?

Hi...Right now I'm glad that you can't see me, for you'd probably hit me. I'm going to do my best to post more regularly. No promises, as I'm about to start 8th grade, my first year in traditional school after 4 years of homeschooling. Things will be pretty crazy, but I should have lots of stories for you!

Also, although they will still be in a lot of my posts, the focus will not be solely on my brothers. To be quite honest, I'm running out of stories. I'm getting used to the role of big sister, and it's becoming a natural part of me. It's like asking someone to do a blog on oxygen. You've had it for quite a while and you have to think quite a bit before coming up with anything to say about it.So, this will just be my blog, and if my brothers do something funny, I'll probably mention it.

Summer has been fun so far. I love swimming, Fourth of July, tanning (or in my case burning to a crisp), and no school. But, surprisingly, I'm looking forward to school, more than just something to do after being bored for 3 months. I don't know what God has planned for this year, but I think it's something big. I was called to go back to public school (which I haven't been to since kindergarten, since I went to private school for a few years). It's nerve racking, but I know that this is God's will, so I'm gonna go with it and see where it takes me.

I went with my church to a camp that I've been going to for several years. The first year I went was with my aunt and her church, while I was still too young to be a student. I only got a glimpse of how awesome that camp was, and yet it was something I was extremely excited for in the years ahead. Last year was my first year as a student and I discovered so much. But, this year was different. I listened and heard everything so much clearer. I was called to be a worship leader someday while I was there, and realized a few of my gifts and a passion for music that I had no idea I had. It was one of the best weeks of my life!

Well, that's my ramble for the day. Just one more question: In this summer weather, what kind of ice cream is better, chocolate or vanilla? Leave your answer in the comments!

Mini Moneybags

First off, I AM SO SORRY!  Spring break was crazy, and then I had testing the week after! But, it's no excuse, I am so very, very sorry that I have not blogged in forever!

Beyond my very horrible acts of blog abandonment, I have not been very exciting. Yesterday, we went shopping for school clothes for next year (I'm going to public school). It's going to be very strange to go to public school after so many years of private Christian schools and homeschooling. I'm very excited, though, and I feel that this is the best way to share my wonderful Savior with the world.

Yesterday, I got tighter rubber bands for my braces. Gosh, does this hurt! But, this will get it done quicker, and the sooner I get all this metal out of my mouth, the happier I'll be.

I had a trampoline at the old house that we weren't using. And, we didn't have much room for it in our new house, so we sold it. Because it was my trampoline, Dad gave me the money for it. I sit beside the baby in the van. Mom passed me back the money and Aaron begins to yell something. I thought he was saying "Rugby, rugby!" I'm sitting there staring at him like 'What the heck?' And Mom says, "No, I think he's saying 'Rub me! Rub me!'" So, I rub him on the head and he shoves my hand off, and points vehemently at Mom who's still handling cash. Ohhh, I think! He's saying "Money! Money! Money!" Silly mini Mr. Krabs!
